Overview
A monthly music night in a hall a few streets from the sea, run entirely by volunteers with no design budget beyond printing costs.
Challenge
Twelve different line-ups, no photography, and posters that had to be readable from across a car park in the rain.
Approach
Rather than twelve designs, one system: a fixed grid, a single typeface at two sizes, and a large geometric form that changes per night. Anyone can produce the next one.
Design
One-colour risograph printing, heavy negative space, and a circular motif that echoes both a speaker cone and a moon over the bay.
Outcome
The series became recognisable within three months, and the volunteers now produce their own posters from the template without any input from me.
